Gonsalves urges students to stay focus, study hard

The students of the newly enrolled Lodge Village Government School Red Cross group had their first opportunity to observe a national parade. This opportunity came when they attended the June 16th Queen’s Birthday Parade at the Old Montrose Police Station.

After the parade the student were met by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph E. Gonsalves.{{more}} Dr. Gonsalves spoke individually to each student. He asked the students to stay focused, study hard and prepare themselves for university.

While this was a general caution, the Prime Minister especially asked the boys to work hard and not to be side tracked. He reminded the boys that if they do not stay focused they would lose the opportunity to wed the educated young ladies. The boys were told that upon the return of the young ladies from university they were more likely to seek a husband among the more educated lot.

Students of the Lowman’s Leeward Anglican School Red Cross and their group leader Desiree Wilson accompanied the students of the newly enrolled Lodge Village Government School Red Cross group. Wilson herself celebrated 31 years as a member of what has now become the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Red Cross on Friday, June 15, 2007.
