bMobile customers now able to vote for Rising Star

Producers of the region’s Digicel Rising Star competition expects the votes cast this season to be the highest ever, after Subscribers to Cable & Wireless’ bMobile wireless services will now be able to vote for their favourite performer.{{more}}

The announcement was made last Friday, during the shows launching at St. Lucia’s Discovery Bay Hotel.

The shows executive producer Michael Hogan said that at the end of the last season in the Eastern Caribbean and Jamaica, Digicel was approached by bMobile, who claimed that their subscribers were interested in being involved in the voting process, and ultimately picking a rising star.

Marketing Director of the Eastern Caribbean Errol McGlothan when asked confirmed that bMobile was previously asked to come on board in previous seasons, but they had refused.

McGlothan stated that both companies have a good working relationship, and the popularity of the show especially in Jamaica might have influenced them to change their minds.

He said that their rival saw the success of the show and wanted to be a part of the process.
