Baptiste heads Vincentian delegation at the 96th Session of the ILO

A delegation from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, headed by Minister of Labour, Hon. Rene Baptiste, is currently attending the 96th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.{{more}} The Conference brings together tripartite representation from member countries of the International Labour Organisation: Government, Labour Movement and Employers. Lloyd Small representing the Labour Movement and Gerald Crick of the Employers Federation are also attending.

The Conference which is held once per year in Geneva, will receive reports from the chairperson of the Governing Body and from the Director General of the ILO. It will also receive a Global Report on the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and adopt a Convention on Work in the Fisheries Sector. It will also meet in plenary and group sessions to discuss a host of other issues which affect employment, labour laws, productivity and competitiveness in the global economic environment.

The delegation is due to return to the state next Monday.
