“I live with Jesus, that is how I live so long” were the words uttered by Millicent Browne on her 103rd birthday 7th June 2007.

She has never smoked nor gambled a day in her life, but has been known to take a sip of brandy now and again.{{more}} With a glint of mischief in her eyes she said “I never drink alcohol,” while sipping on a glass of Guinness.

At 103 years young, Millicent is full of life. She is now confined to a wheelchair after suffering an injury to her hip some years back. “She is still a very independent lady” says care giver Nicole Ryan.

Browne has been described by the people who know her, as being quiet and having a great memory “I don’t forget nothing” says Millicent. She stated “The body is weak but the mind is strong,” while holding on to this reporter’s hand with a very strong grip. Daughter-in-law Germaine says that Millicent is no trouble whatsoever. Millicent was a cook and in her youth loved to travel; she resided in Trinidad for about 6 years and travelled to the UK.

Millicent was born in Stubbs Village and then moved to Harmony Hall where she has lived for most of her life. She had 4 children and has outlived 2 of them. As to her diet, Millicent has a glass of milk mixed with ice cream every morning. She has no particular healthcare regime but attributes her long life to clean living and advises everyone to do the same.
