Coast Guard record 100 per cent passes
To be the Central Liaison Officer (CLO) for the Regionâs security in these times of terrorist threats, drug trafficking, piracy and other cross border criminal activities is no walk in the park, but looking at Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Duke Severin one would get the impression that his job is stress free. {{more}}
Last Friday, June 1, Severin delivered an address to mark the graduation of 15 students who took a five-week course in Basic Seamanship at the Coast Guard base at Calliaqua. He urged the Graduates to be on the cutting edge of technology and to be responsible to themselves and their country.
The Dominican national is career police officer and is based in Christ Church, Barbados at the Regional Security Systemâs (RSS)headquarters.
The course is accredited by the RSS and was open to all member states. There was a 100 percent pass rate with the average score being 73 per cent.
Able (AB) Seaman Menilic Kirby was awarded Most Outstanding Student and Best at Practical while Woman Police Constable (WPC) Ann Marie Thomas of St Lucia won the Best at Physical Award. Police Constable (PC) Brian Wiltshire of Grenada was awarded Best at Academics.
