Toastmasters Club celebrates its first

Achievers Toastmasters SVG celebrated their First Anniversary on becoming a Chartered Club on May 5th. That date was also significant in that two members of the club completed their tenth Speech Project to receive “Competent Communicator” awards, and Achievers Club SVG obtained the status of “Distinguished Club” – the minimum required goal of every Toastmaster Club in the world. {{more}}

“We’ve all become one big happy family,” says Jan Bradshaw of Achievers. That family numbers 21 members to date. Wendie Wilson, Secretary, says “A year ago, I would shy away from speaking in public, now it’s like chatting with friends”.

From May 17 – 21, 2007 President Monica Woodley and VP Education Jo Elliott both participated in the Semi-annual Regional Toastmasters Conference and Speech Contests held in Jamaica. They reported: “The Conference was a tremendous experience of Caribbean integration. Two hundred representatives from Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Curacao, Bonaire, Barbados, SVG, BVI, St. Marteen, Jamaica and Haiti come together under one theme – “Out of Many – One Voice”. We didn’t bring home the speech-prize bacon, but we brought a wealth of knowledge, sharing, learning and memories of fun and new friendships”.

Achievers Toastmasters Club SVG meets the first and third Saturdays of each month at the Haddon Hotel at 4:30 p.m.
