Minister: Too many soldiers missing in action
Describing the move to collect repatriation as the âNew Warâ, Minister of Culture René Baptiste has said that a more unified strategy is necessary to achieve victory.
The Minister is of the opinion that the efforts of those interested must move from âspeechâ to âresearchâ and that they must also position themselves to network with the academic world and not be âlone rangers.â {{more}}
The Culture Minister said that while some people would do the real work in meetings with the government to set up structures and help with negotiations, others were only interested in going on trips to the UN.
She said too many soldiers were âmissing in actionâ and there was a need to redesign and rework how the Black Movement addressed not only repatriation but the other problems affecting black people such as HIV/AIDS, poverty and famine.
She said that the repatriation movement worldwide and in the Caribbean lands including St Vincent and the Grenadines must show unity of purpose, unity of vision, unity of direction.
Baptiste, who was speaking at a rally to mark African Liberation Day at Heritage Square on Friday, May 25, also said that the black people must recognize the part played by the Cubans in freeing Africans. (SG)
