Courts Comedy challenge showcases tomorrow
Furniture and appliance giant Courts is adding comedy to its already extensive line of products. The Courts Comedy Challenge -âThe Road to Stardomâ will kick off with auditions at the Peace Memorial Hall tomorrow at 10am.
Courts Marketing Executive Alexis Harry told SEARCHLIGHT that the event is geared towards identifying a personality to be the Courts mascot for 2007 and to develop the Standup comedy art form throughout the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). {{more}}
âWe recognize that comedy is a Caribbean way of life, this is evident at wedding receptions, parties and as we lime on the blocks. We at Courts want to take the artform to a higher level by harnessing such talents,â said Harry.
From Saturdayâs audition ten persons will be selected for the finals which will be held on 23 June for a grand prize of $2000. Participants will perform for five minutes and points will be allotted as follows: adherence to time – 10 points, content – 25 points, presentation – 15 points, confidence – 10 points while crowd response will garner 20 points.
The audition will be open to persons 18 years and older and each participant will receive a free gift.
The Grand Finale will be held in Grenada and the winner will walk away with $5000 and a one year advertising contract with Courts.(AC)
