Aquatic Club to reopen its doors

The Aquatic Club, which has been the venue of some of this country’s most memorable entertainment events, will once again open its doors to the partying public.

The club located just off the Young Island Resort in Villa, which has been on the entertainment scene since the sixties and has changed hands over the years, has finally come home.{{more}}

That is according to the club’s new Marketing Manager Ezzie Roberts.

Roberts, speaking at a press conference at the club on Tuesday, said that the new management has addressed a number of the problems that have been plaguing the establishment over the years.

“The club is now soundproof,” Roberts revealed. “Within recent times one of the problems the club has been experiencing is that of complaints from business places that the noise during events is affecting their business. On many occasions events ended prematurely because of this.”

Roberts also revealed that there has been a major transformation of the bathrooms, the addition of a dressing room and extra bar, and repairs done to the jetty on the outside.

The club now has a larger dancing area; with a capacity of close to 2000 patrons, who would be partying in air conditioned comfort.

Roberts also boasted of an improved security system, with extra exits from the club.

He stated that although the club is hoping to capture the younger party goers, they intend to cater to a wider cross section of patrons.

According to Roberts: “The objective of the club is to create the opportunity for a wider cross section of Vincentians to party, we know that there is a wider cross section of the society who have been alienated from the entertainment industry. A lot of these persons have been partying with the Aquatic Club in the past, and they will feel comfortable coming back given the status of the new facilities.”

And tomorrow’s opening has been planned to prove Roberts’ point.

The roster includes among other artistes the youthful Galaniare, and Alla G, with seasoned veterans I-Pa, the reigning calypso monarch, and former calypso and soca king Poorsah.

The headliner for tomorrow’s event, The Baron of Trinidad and Tobago, is a proven pleaser for any age group, with music coming from DJ Black Ice and Jude the ‘Cool Dude’.

Also performing tomorrow is the band Signal, which will be using the opportunity to launch their line up and songs for Carnival 2007.

Miss SVG contestant Natika Emmons, who is sponsored by the Aquatic Club, will host the other contestants at Saturday’s opening.
