Solid Waste, Villagers clean up Colonarie beach

What started out as one villager clearing a nice little spot to ‘cool out’ three weeks ago, turned into a massive clean up campaign spurred on by the Solid Waste Management Unit.{{more}}

A collaborative effort between the residents of the east coast village of Colonarie and the unit, along with some input from the National Parks Commission has transformed the location into a recreational area.

The clean up was undertaken by the villagers, while the unit provided technical assistance, tools and advice.

The unit plans to visit the area regularly to assist with its upkeep, and plans house to house visits to promote solid waste management and awareness.
