Caesar will contest the soca section of the competition with his song `Winning room’, and in the calypso section he will perform `Health of the nation’.
Also competing in the soca category is Zoelah Boyde who is slated to perform her rendition `Go Down Low’, Aretha Shallow and her contribution `We Na Stop’, Shazeke `shaz’ John who sings `Wuk It Up’, Julian `Cool’ Prescott with `Wine It’ and Aubrey `Black I’ Dember with `Fire’.
Another veteran, Quintin `Mighty Toiler’ Toby will try his luck in the calypso category with `Miss Foreiness’, against Noel `Defoe’ Costello with `One Caribbean’, Ronald `Ron B’ Browne with `Gimme Gimme’ Michael `bosalt’ Daniel with `Who have the say’ and Wendel `Rastaman I’ Lewis with `Tide Rising’.
This is the second time that Caesar is competing in both categories of the competition, and he is yet to take the top spot. Last year’s event, was won by Aretha Shallow for in soca caegory and Derek “Sick” Alexander for the calypso.
The best New Song Competition is just one of the many events scheduled for tomorrow’s Carnival launching. The Miss SVG contestants are to make their first public appearance at the event, as well as a number of mas presentations and performances.
