Principal and senior teachers expect their Bachelor of Arts Degree

At the end of their two-year workshop, over 40 primary school principals and teachers in the junior forms of secondary schools are expected to have a Bachelor of Arts degree in primary education, with emphasis on leadership and management.

Their studies got underway here last Thursday, with the official launch of the project at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown.{{more}}

At the end of the course they are expected to develop expertise in instructions, curriculum, assessment, peer collaboration, organisational leadership and learning.

The participants involved in the project, which is the first of its kind, will be tutored through distance learning; this is where the classes are conducted by the University of West of England, based in Bristol United Kingdom over the internet.Classes will also be conducted on a face to face basis, during the summer vacation and other school holidays.

Thursday’s launching ceremony was addressed by the Chief Education Officer Susan Dougan, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Laura Browne, Professor Ron Richie and John Lee of the University of West England.

Participants will be tutored in the tools and techniques of effective management skills and also aim to realise personal and professional growth, make impact on schools and communities and develop as successful and celebrated leaders.
