Teacher elected first female District Superintendent
Cordella Gibson made history when she was installed as the first female District Superintendent of the Wesleyan Holiness church in the Caribbean.
The lecturer at the St Vincent Technical College has been a devout Christian for over 40 years and pastor of the Buccament branch for the last 14 years.
Her duties as superintendent include overseeing all seven churches and two
missions in St Vincent and liaising with the general superintendent in Antigua where the church has its Caribbean Headquarters.
The election took place on Saturday while the installation took place on
Sunday at the Campden Park church; Reverend Dr Olsen Daniel conducted the ceremony.
Gibson would like to thank all who voted and supported her especially Polly Oliver who encouraged her to go for it. “I think that God has called me to fulfill his purpose”, she said.
