More toys for Precious Jewels Pre-school

The pupils of the Precious Jewels pre-school are lucky to have additional toys to play with while they are at school. The toys which were donated by the students of the St. Joseph’s Convent Kingstown Prayer Room were purchased using the proceeds from the students’ annual Christmas Play at the Roman Catholic Pastoral Centre.

During an interview, teacher of the school Sister Cheryl Cumberbatch told SEARCHLIGHT that despite the fact that the purpose of the play was not to make money. The students saw it fit to donate the money that they collected to a place or someone of their choice.{{more}}

“The Prayer Room is for children to know the importance of God and to build a relationship with him,” Cumberbatch stated.

According to her, there are a total of 30 students in the group and despite the fact that some of them are not members of the Roman Catholic denomination, nevertheless, they still join the group and would usually use the room to offer praise unto God.

Sister Cheryl, who is from Barbados has been teaching Religious Studies, Social Studies and English at the school for the past one year and seven months.
