SVG, Venezuela sign search, rescue pact
A search and rescue agreement is soon to be signed between Venezuela and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves said that he was very grateful for Venezuela’s prompt response to the recent tragedy involving the SVG Air aircraft, and the desire to sign an agreement is coming on the heel of this.{{more}}
At press time, two men were still missing from this accident and search has continued for the aircraft that disappeared at around 7 pm on Sunday, November 19.
Dr Gonsalves was at the time, expressing congratulations to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela who had just been elected to a third term in office. He captured over 60 percent of the votes, comprehensively whipping his opponent and securing the future of his radical, social movement for six more years.
Prime Minister Gonsalves, when he spoke at the sitting of Parliament, last Wednesday, December 6, before the start of debate on the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure termed Chavez’s victory as “a solid victory by a strong ally.”
He told the House that if Chavez had lost it would have presented challengesfor this country as there were major Government projects in which Venezuela plays a significant role.
