Byam to head VICSA executive

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Cuba Students Association (VICSA) has elected a new executive headed by fourth year International Sports Student Denis Byam.

Byam, formerly the VICSA vice president, was elected when the association held its annual general meeting in the central Cuban province of Villa Clara as part of 27th Independence celebrations.{{more}}

Other members of the executive are: Judith Sayers as 1st Vice President, Rhonel Grant, 2nd Vice President; Tamika Bennet, Secretary; Michael Yearwood, Treasurer; Melissa Ince as Secretary/Treasurer with Romel Williams, Public Relations Officer.

The student group also elected three committee members: Akousa Horne-Cupid, Natasha Sergeant and Joycita Stewart representing the Eastern, Central and Western sections of the vast Cuban landscape where students are based.

The immediate past president of VICSA is final year student Nerissa Fergus.

There are presently 174 Vincentians pursuing tertiary level studies in the Republic of Cuba.
