Vincentian in the Cayman Islands celebrate SVG’s independence
On Sunday 29th October Vincentians in the Cayman Islands celebrated the 27th Independence anniversary of their homeland.
The day began with a church Service at the First Assembly Church on Old Crewe Road during which Kim France give a brief history of St Vincent while Ormond Williams offered a powerful prayer for St Vincent and the Grenadines.{{more}}
The highlight of the service was a rendition of Becket’s St Vincent I love you by Asharie France, Eustace Francis and Zaria Robinson on steel pan.
According to spokesperson for the Vincentian group, Cornelius Pompey, the session was a bomb. A number of Vincentians turned out in their Vincy colours. There were other nationalities joining the celebration, including Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Barbados, St Lucia, Jamaica and Cayman Islands.
Persons were treated to a mixture of Vincy calypso, Soca music and Vincentian food.
Pompey said an association would soon be formed, as the Vincentian community in the Cayman Islands is a small one. Vincentians working in the Cayman Islands ranges from construction to profession workers.
