Heritage Square ‘Shout SVG’ a cultural treat

The National Independence Committee (NIC) must be commended for organising a fantastic line up of Vincentian performers at the “Shout SVG” concert which was held at Heritage Square on Saturday October 28.

Patriotic Vincentians came out in their national colours and were entertained with dance from Stubbs Primary School troupe and Friends Dance Company, while Kingstown Anglican School and Hairoun Theatre rendered choral speeches and poems that emphasized the importance of being patriotic.{{more}}

The band Impac blessed the venue and cleverly put a spin on some gospel pieces giving them a jazzy beat while Akcess and solo performer Madzart brought some Soca music to the stage.

Ken Isles had everyone rocking to some sweet pan music and Minster of Culture Rene Baptiste handed out prizes to the winners of the Patriotic Colours Contest.

Kiaso lovers got a treat from veteran Calypsonians Kenneth “Vibrating Scakes” Alleyne, Alexis “Lexi” Joseph, Glenroy “Sulle” Caesar and reigning Calypso Monarch Grantly “I-Pa” Constance who was eventually asked to do an encore with his song “Family’.
