The total of funds awarded represents a 14% percent increase over 2005 ($126,000). The increase was possible partly through the generous contribution of private sector patrons, including Virgin Holidays, Interval International, The Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), Royal Caribbean, and Carnival Cruise Lines.
Colette Simmons, the only winner from St. Vincent, was granted with a scholarship of US$3,000 to continue a Bsc. in Hotel Management at the Centre for Hotel & Tourism Management in Nassau, Bahamas.
