Corporate community donate to charity
Once again a group of businessmen has donated to charity. This is a commendable gesture as the complaint is often made that the corporate community does not sufficiently support community activities. A quantity of school supplies valued at over EC$12,000 was donated to the Cool Riderz Motor Cycle Club to support its back-to-school charity event. During the month of August each year, club members ride throughout the country making donations in the villages and towns, knocking at doors of residents to present them with the items for children.{{more}}
The businesses involved are SVG General Services Ltd., SVG Tyre Sales and Services, Square Deal Shippers and Nice Foods. According to the manager of SVG General Services Ltd., Leroy âFlyâ Edwards, âBusinesses cannot survive without the support of customersâ. It is his opinion that donating to charity is one way of showing appreciation for customer support.
The Cool Riderz Club has set a target of EC$25,000 in supplies to be distributed to school-aged children throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The donated sum of $12,000 represents almost half of the targeted figure. Last year, the club donated over EC$20,000 in books, bags and other school supplies. These gifts were well received by children and parents. Members of the Cool Riderz Motor Cycle Club extend sincere gratitude to all those who supported the charitable activities.
Witnessing the event was the René Baptiste, Minister of Urban Development, Culture, Labour and Electoral Matters.
