Justice Caesar sworn in by G-G

Justice Lester Caesar, this country’s newest Magistrate, was sworn into office on Thursday, July 20, 2006. The ceremony was held at Government House.

Guyanese by birth, Justice Caesar is a graduate of the University of Guyana and of the Hugh Wooding Law School, (Trinidad and Tobago). He has served his home country as a Magistrate in both the Criminal and Civil jurisdiction of the courts.{{more}} While in St. Vincent and the Grenadines Justice Caesar will serve in District 2 at the Georgetown Magistrate Court.

Justice Caesar said that he sees himself as a; “servant of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and pledges to serve without favour.

He would focus on rehabilitation especially in preventing first offenders from becoming repeat offenders.

Chief Magistrate (Acting) Sharda Sinanan Bollers in her congratulatory remarks expressed her confidence in Justice Caesar. The Chief Magistrate also stated that his appointment guarantees that St. Vincent and the Grenadines has a, “full compliment of magisterial staff ensuring that …[we] do not suffer from a lapse in the justice system because of an insufficient number of magistrates”.

Also present at this morning’s swearing in ceremony were Governor-General Sir Frederick Ballantyne, Attorney General Judith Jones-Morgan, Chief Personnel Officer Bernard Morgan, and Commissioner of Police Keith Miller.
