Edwards is toast of Brighton Methodist
She was 11th overall in this year’s common entrance (7th for girls) so it was no surprise but still worthy of a bow to see Kayrel Edwards walk away with several trophies at the Brighton Methodist School Graduation and Prize Giving Ceremony held on Thursday, July 6, at the school compound.{{more}}
Most outstanding in English, Mathematics; and General Paper went to her as well as 1st place – from the school – in the Common Entrance Examination. Kayrel, was then the obvious Student of the Year awardee and looked a bit overwhelmed at times as she received award after award.
During his address, principal of the school, Chiefton Charles encouraged parents to be more vigilant in the monitoring of their children. “We sometimes have up to fifteen students on one day sent to the office because they did not do their homework,” lamented Charles as he stressed to parents that their children’s success is also theirs.
Charles, who is entering his final year in the teaching profession, challenged the school to bridge the gap in the Common Entrance performance. After Kayrel’s 11th place in the Common Entrance Exam next in line were Chrystal Allwood and Chioniso Baptiste, 257th and 269th respectively.
David Francis was adjudged to be the Most Improved Student. The three top- placed performers in the lower classes also received awards.
