Government presented with equipment
Two pieces of heavy duty equipment valued at close to US $250,000 from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela were handed over to the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines yesterday.
The equipment, a Compacted Caterpillar valued at U.S $102,214, and a Grader 120H valued at U.S $132,570, were handed over at a ceremony at the Campden Park Container Port at 11 a.m.
These are the first of some six pieces of heavy duty equipment valued at U.S $3 million dollars that will be delivered to the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines from the Hugo Chavez administration in Venezuela between July and September this year.
According to Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves the equipment will be available for lease to small contractors to help them carry out their work. The equipment will be under the control of the Public Works Department.
