Youlou Arts Foundation gets $1000 Digicel cheque

The Youlou Arts Foundation was the recipient of a cheque valued $1,000 donated by Digicel last Tuesday at their main offices in Kingstown. The cheque is a contribution towards the Foundation’s annual summer program being held from July 17 to August 4.

Founder of Youlou Arts, Camille Saunders Musser said that the donation would go a very long way in the execution of their summer program. She mentioned that since the foundation’s establishment in 2001, the foundation has had its fair share of ups and downs but they are still strong and growing.{{more}}

Musser highlighted that this year’s program will focus mainly on the work and life of the late Dr. Earl Kirby. She made it clear that it is a priority for the young ones to know about their history at a very tender age. She told SEARCHLIGHT that for this year’s programme the children would be involved in craftwork, print making, drawings and textiles.

Musser said that Dr. Earl Kirby played a very significant part in the development of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

She further added that, “art empowers children’s minds. Art is based on decisions we make in our lives.” She outlined that art inspires many different ideas, which help to mould young minds. “Art is also something that help you find yourself and gives you the desire to become life-long learners.”

The summer program is being held at the St. Vincent Technical College and caters for children ages five to fifteen and is held on weekdays from, 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
