Kiayana is PESCO quiz champion

Kiayana Gordon, a student of the Questelles Government School won the PESCO annual General Knowledge Quiz Competition, which took place at the Questelles Government School.

Gordon is now eligible for a one-year scholarship once she passes the Common Entrance Exams which take place today, Friday, June 2. She is the first female to win this competition since its inception seven years ago.

Second place went to Cornelius Neptune, also of the Questelles Government School, with Naton Simmons of the Dubois Government taking the third spot. The other competitor was Subrina Lavia of the Clare Valley Government School.

The first, second and third place winners all received trophies donated by the National Youth Council.

This year PESCO would be handing out five scholarships to needy students in the South Leeward Constituency who will be attending secondary school for the first time.

Last year two students who are now attending the St Martin’s Secondary and the St Vincent Grammar school received a one-year scholarship from the organisation.
