‘Start to put your pennies together’

A medical school may soon be constructed somewhere between Biabou and Georgetown.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has agreed in principle to allow an investor to bring the project to St. Vincent. The Prime Minister made the announcement while addressing the “Unity Youths”, the youth arm of his Unity Labour Party at their convention last Sunday 21st at the North Union Secondary School.{{more}}

The Prime Minister said that the location that he insisted on facilitates the potential students being able to use the facilities at the Georgetown Hospital which will function also as a teaching hospital.

Dr. Gonsalves encouraged those present from the Biabou to “start to put your pennies together,” as he highlighted the economic benefits that would be available to residents in these areas through house and vehicle rentals to medical students among others.

The Prime Minister also announced that in addition to the existing opportunities for tertiary educational scholarships, soon Portugal and Austria will be added to the list. “Everywhere we go we are looking for scholarships,” exclaimed the Prime Minister.

He listed his Government’s achievements in the midst of what he termed as one of the “most difficult period economically,” to his young enthusiastic party members. “We have narrowed in this country the gap between ourselves and the rest of the OECS.” Dr. Gonsalves boasted that the economy has grown every single year and highlighted the creation of over 4000 “good” jobs during his party’s reign.

He also challenged the “Unity Youths” to make the party a part of their every day life and use every opportunity including writing letters to newspapers to promote the party, its policies and principles.
