Ronica, Storm win art prizes

Two Vincentian students have been rewarded for their artistic skills. They are Ronica Daize, a 13-year-old Girls’ High School student and eight-year-old Storm Halbich of the Windsor Primary School.

They are the 2006 winners of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association Children Poster Competition.{{more}}

Daize, a form two student, was happy with her success. “I am feeling pretty good,” she said last Monday. She was at the Tourism Ministry where she collected her US$200 prize from Minister Glen Beache.

The competition was designed to alert students to the need to preserve the environment. Ronica is daughter of Roland and Nicola Daize. The theme for her presentation was “Become nature’s friend. Protect the environment.”

This is the second time that Daize has won a poster competition. She declared: “I like to draw.” She intends to become a designer.

Storm is a grade three student. He has a big agenda on his hands. He is well known in the art circles, and has won several competitions before.

He plans to write a book which according to him is “geared towards welcoming visitors, especially children to SVG.”

He is son of Earl and Kim Halbich.
