More Cement from Mexico

Officials of the Mexican Cement Company, CEMEX, committed on Monday to supply cement on a regular basis to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This commitment was made during a meeting in Venezuela between Juan Guillermo Rojas, trading and logistic director of CEMEX Venezuela and Ellsworth I. A. On June 2nd, the second shipment of cement will arrive in St. Vincent and the Grenadines from CEMEX Venezuela with monthly shipments to follow. This arrangement will complement the supply of cement from the traditional suppliers to ensure that there is sufficient cement to meet the local construction demand in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Preliminary discussions were also held between Rojas and Ambassador John on the supply of sand and gravel to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The supply of cement to St. Vincent and the Grenadines by CEMEX is the result of an agreement between President Fox on behalf of the Government of Mexico and Prime Minister Gonsalves on behalf of the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for a government to government trading arrangement on cement.
