The examination is time-tabled to run from 8:20 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., with mid-morning and lunch breaks.

This year’s examination is preceded by an assessment of the reading levels of all students registered to write the examination. This assessment is currently taking place, and is being managed by a consultant, a team of literacy officers within the Curriculum Unit of the Ministry of Education, and also some retired reading specialists.

The number of students registered for the examination is 2698: 1388 boys (51.4 percent) and 1310 (48.6 percent) girls. This represents a decrease of 16 precent from last year’s total.

The schools with the largest entries are Kingstown Anglican (135), CW Prescod (130), Lowmans Leeward Anglican (125), Kingstown Preparatory (118) and Kingstown Government (106).
