Mayreau gets help with radio communication techniques

Residents of the Grenadines Island of Mayreau have improved their radio communication techniques with the help of The Rainbow Radio League, RRL and the members of the Mayreau Environmental Group, MEDO.

Training sessions were conducted on emergency message handling, radio protocol, High Frequency (HF) and Very High Frequency (VHF) communications by Grenadines Director of the RRL Sylvester Tannis and Donald De Riggs also of the league. {{more}}

The residents also received and installed a quantity of emergency communications equipment including the VHF smart trunk radio system recently installed for NEMO.

Assistance to purchase the equipment came from the St.Vincent Electricity Service, VINLEC, while the airline company Amerijet helped transport the items free of freight charges and Captain Jeffery King of the MV Barracuda also helped in shipping the training personnel and installation crew to Mayreau.
