Sir Louis Saddened by Jackson’s death
On MondaY March 6 around 5:20 pm while the body of slain Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Glenn Jackson was being removed from the crime scene, Deputy Prime Minister Sir Louis Straker, in the absence of Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, was the first to address the nation.
Remaining calm, the Deputy Prime Minister told grief stricken and shocked citizens that he learnt of Jacksonâs murder when the Permanent Secretary in the Prime Ministerâs office informed him.
Straker said that he was later joined by the consultant to the Prime Ministerâs office, Sir Vincent Beache, after which he woke up the Prime Minister who, because of the time difference, was asleep in Singapore.
