PANCAP/Caricom Grants for HIV/AIDS Awareness

The issue of HIV/AIDS will be the focus of three community-based groups thanks to funding from the PANCAP/Caricom Mini Grants Programme, with a donation totalling US$10,000.

The Blue Angels Personal Development Agency, received US$5,000 towards their “Aids Sensitization Awareness Programme” (ASAP). {{more}}

The Calliaqua Adolescent Group received US$2,819 for their project “Be Aware, Act Responsible” which would be executed in that community, while the Troumaca Rose Hall Adolescence Group collected US$2,282 for their project called, “Positive Vibes to Stay Alive” to be carried out in the Rose Bank and Troumaca areas.

The cheques were presented to the groups by a team headed by Dr. Heather Johnson of the Caricom Secretariat, on Saturday March 4 at the Youth Affairs Office in Rose Place.

The Caricom team was in the state to conduct a mid term review of the Mini Grants programme which began in 2005, it aims to involve young people in project development and community mapping activities at home and abroad.

Some seven countries including St.Vincent and the Grenadines are participating in the first year pilot programme.
