Youth Council wants an end to violence in schools

The National Youth Council (NYC) is making a call to all students in St. Vincent and the Grenadines to desist from participating in violent activities in the schools.

In a press release, the NYC stated that they “have witnessed an increase in reported cases (of violence) through the print media” and in this regard they urged the nation’s youth not to “inflict any form of physical abuse on their comrades in education.”

According to the Youth Council, the young people of the country should “embrace the young leaders’ theme and apply it in their everyday life.” They also urged parents to ensure that they do their part in “molding their children into the best person he or she can be.”

The council also expressed the wish that 2006 would be a productive year, and urged all students to strive for excellence.
