$25,000 roof repair for Bequia Rotarians

by Jonathan Ashby

The Bequia Rotary Club has begun repair work on their headquarters roof, estimated to cost $25,000, thanks to a generous $7,000 donation from a Florida based charity pledged to assist the Caribbean and Americas.

The roof at the club’s centre in Lower Bay suffered substantial storm damage twice, in 2004 and 2005. The club had managed to raise $18,000 of the $25,000 needed to carry out the repairs when the Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and the Americas – FAVACA – learned of their efforts and offered to fund the shortfall.
