Caribbean Soroptimist Day

Soroptimist International of St. Vincent and the Grenadines celebrated Caribbean Soroptimist Day on Sunday, January 15, by worshipping at St. George’s Cathedral. The church service was followed by breakfast at Nice Foods Restaurant.

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad was the first Soroptimist Club to be chartered in the Caribbean on Janaury 16, 1959.

It was agreed in Antigua in 1997 that this important date should be observed regionally.{{more}}

The Caribbean now has 16 clubs in eight countries and these are making an impact on the lives of the less fortunate throughout the Caribbean.

Sororoptimist International is a world-wide organisation for women in management and the professions, working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women.

Soroptimist International was founded in 1921 and now has a world-wide membership of 95,000 women. This makes us the world’s largest classified service organization for women.
