Japanese Volunteers take up duties in SVG

A new group of Japanese Volunteers arrived in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on November 30, joining the six Japanese volunteers who are already in place.

The four new volunteers are Susumu Aoyama, a science teacher who will be assigned to the Grammar School; Natsumi Takeya, a music teacher who will work at the Georgetown Secondary School; Eriko Ouchi, a Youth Activity Officer who will work at the Sunshine School in Bequia; Mariko Sakuma, is community development officer. {{more}}She will be assigned to the Fisheries Division and will be living in Barrouallie allowing her to work closely with fishermen and blackfish vendors.

The volunteers are undergoing a one-month orientation course in preparation for their assignments. They will officially take up their duties from January 3, 2006.
