Students receive Francis Lewis scholarship

Courtney Cumberbatch of Belair, and Trishauna Ross of Calliaqua are the recipients of the 5 year Francis Lewis Memorial Scholarship for 2005.

Following the tragic death of Francis Lewis, son of Father and Mrs. Cyril V. Lewis of Fountain, a decision was taken by his family to use the proceeds from a memorial service held in his honour in Toronto, Canada to help two students from St. Vincent with their Secondary Education.{{more}}

The basic requirement was that the recipients be past students of either the Calliaqua Anglican School or the Belair Government School. This serves to honour the roots of the Lewis Family.

Courtney is the son of Janice Cumberbatch and Elvette King and is currently a student of the Emmanuel High School. Trishauna is the daughter of Ann Ross and Kendall DeRoche and is a student of the Bishop’s College, Kingstown.

Two other students, Okyle Browne and Chrislyn Jacobs, were also the recipients of awards through the generosity of members of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Calliaqua.
