Lions eye care

It has been a partnership between the Lions Club of Kingstown and a mission team from the United States where doctors and nurses have been providing free eye care for over 25 years.

According to President of the local Club Raffie King, some 800 children were looked after as well as some 900 adults. He said that thus far 75 persons received free eye surgery, all at a value of $1.5 million dollars. {{more}}He said the team of some 19 medical practitioners used the latest equipment and distributed free spectacles to those who were in need. The Lions Club President said that every year the public looks forward to the programme and he described it as a success. The 2005 Eye Care programme began on Sunday October 30 and ended Friday November 4.
