Over 70 persons in the North Leeward area were trained for three and half days in a Countrystyle Community Tourism programme facilitated by the Caribbean Regional Environmental Programme (CREP).

To conclude the training session a closing ceremony was held last Thursday, September 29, at the North Leeward Learning Resource Centre along with the display of locally made dishes prepared by the participants of the training programme. {{more}}

Addressing the participants, area representative Dr. Jerrol Thompson outlined a number of projects that have been further developed and improved in the area with the assistance of the Caribbean Regional Environmental Programme (CREP) and the Ministry of Tourism. He said besides these sites, there are also the food, history and the way of life of the communities and urged the participants to do their part to help market community tourism.

The training programme was conducted by Chairman/CEO of Countrystyle Community Tourism Network of Jamaica, Diana McIntyre, and Barry Bonito.

McIntyre said that she would definitely encourage country style tourism not only in North Leeward but in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in general because the country has a lot to offer in terms of its food and the wonderful people.
