Goodluck drowns at Biabou beach

Kewaite Goodluck, will be buried at the Biabou Cemetery today, eight days after he lost his life at the Biabou beach.

The 18-year-old former student of the Georgetown Multi-purpose Centre was fishing at the Biabou Sea last Friday when he encountered difficulties from currents in the water. He subsequently drowned.{{more}}

Attempts were made by his friends to rescue him but their efforts were futile.

“I feel real sad. His death leaves me with a broken heart,” said Glenroy Goodluck, as he remorsefully spoke of the death of his son.

“Kewaite will rest on my mind until I die,” Goodluck lamented.

The sad father described his son as a cool, quiet and loving person, whom he enjoyed a close relationship with.

Goodluck, a former Fisheries Driver, said though his son loved to fish he could not swim. This has proved fatal in the final analysis.

“It has shocked the entire village,” said Juliet Robinson, Kewaite’s mother.

Robinson said since his death she has hardly had any sleep.

“Perhaps if I was on the beach it would have been two people drowned because I would not have seen my son there drowning and not doing something to help,” said Robinson.

She said looking at her son’s lifeless body at the Biabou beach was a terrifying experience.

Goodluck and Robinson said they would like to express thanks to the Biabou community for the love and support that they have showered upon them.
