Regarding their relationship with Starlift Steel Orchestra, Vice-President, Retail Services of Cable & Wireless Anthony Regisford states, âWeâve had a long relationship with them and it has the potential of bearing fruit. {{more}}By this I mean the sustaining and growth of pan. Starlift is an icon and has been champions for many years. There is no better group to take pan to the young people and schools. Starlift would be the tutors and mentors for the youngsters, teaching the art of pan. We congratulate them on another victorious performance this Carnival and look forward to working together throughout the year ahead.â
Starlift is persistently involved in community outreach, offering programmes for Pan Development. The Orchestra has adopted Kingstown Government School and Lodge Village Primary School where they teach pan to the kids.
Cable & Wireless said that as steel pan continues to be a persistent influence in this countryâs culture they acknowledge and embrace the art form. Along with pan they are known to support music in general. The company recently donated a grand piano to the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the 25th anniversary of independence. The piano, valued in excess of EC$34,000 is located at the Peace Memorial Hall in Kingstown.
Cable & Wireless said that as the official Mobile and Internet Service Provider for Vincy Mas 2005, it steps beyond telecom services to ensure that the tradition of pan and music remains prominent.
