Vincentian receives Harvard Scholarship

Another young Caribbean female is reporting academic excellence in the United States of America.

Loni P. Philip who has roots in St.Vincent and the Grenadines, graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 11, 2005 with a Master’s of Science in Mathematics.{{more}}

She will be attending the prestigious Harvard University in September, as the recipient of a full scholarship, to pursue a PhD in Biostatistics.

While completing her Master’s Degree, Phillip taught Mathematics at Drexel University, as well as at the Philadelphia University and Katharine Gibbs University. She was also involved in community service in Philadelphia tutoring “inner-city” children in Mathematics.

The scholar is the daughter of Garfield and Patsie Philip of Yeadon, Pennsylvania. Her proud parents are from Grenada and St. Vincent, respectively.

Her mother, Patsie, is from Park Hill, where her grandparents, Herman and Edna Cuffy, still live.
