Students break down at Assembly

A Monday morning school assembly is rarely convened to say goodbye.

But so it was as the teachers and students St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua as the gathered for their first assembly since the untimely passing on former-school principal Sister Patricia Ann Douglas.{{more}}

There, that Monday morning, there existed an uneasy calm that was broken momentarily by the surprise arrival of the Prime Minister when some of the younger students broke into spontaneous applause.

That moment seemed strangely odd, given the otherwise sombre mood of the morning. Then the assembly got started. On this same space where Sister Patricia Douglas always rule. But it all came out, a flood tears when called upon to render Sister’s favourite song ‘All I ask is to rmember me.” There was hardly anyone left with a dry eye.
