Double wham for the Pope

Last Sunday, May 22, Bishop Melch Pope celebrated a double.

It was his 25th Anniversary as a Pastor and Evangelist, and also his tenth year in SVG as Pastor of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church at New Montrose. Bishop Pope has travelled extensively as a Servant for the Lord, preaching and receiving training in the Caribbean, Canada, South Korea, Hawaii and New Amsterdam.{{more}}

His congregation of over 450 members that has tripled since his arrival here, gave recognition to the event with an Anniversary Service on Sunday afternoon. The session was chaired by Maurice Bibby and the National Anthem was rendered by Andrea Gaymes, a Gold Medalist in this year’s Music Festival.

Rev. Sis D. Dennie led in prayers after which, patrons were entertained with a number of cultural items in songs, dance, drama and skits. Bishop Sonny Williams gave congratulatory remarks, a profile on the pastor was done by Sis. D. Armstrong.

Bishop Noel Clarke was the Guest Speaker who did a lovely presentation, comparing the life of Abraham with that of Melch Pope’s, in particular the obedience to instructions and responses to challenges by both men working as God’s Servants.

Bishop Pope in his response was the essence of humility as he gave God the praise and paid special tribute to his devoted wife Shirlene for her support. Bishop Pope is Trinidadian also his wife who was born in Tobago, she has recently completed the certificate programme in Bible and Theology at the W.I. School of Theology. The Popes are the proud parents of three children.
