‘Green’ members in the shadows

One week after social activist Ivan O’Neal announced the launch of his SVG Green Party, he is back promising the establishment of the University of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

O’Neal had been the lone political prospect at the party’s launch at his suburban Harmony Hall residence when he told reporters that the majority of persons affiliated with the party preferred to remain “in the background”. {{more}}

Now he is advising Vincentians that the proposed university will be built in the North Central Windward constituency where he had a dismal showing last General Elections as a candidate of the Ken Boyea-led People’s Progressive Movement.

O’Neal said in a release issued this week that entrance to the proposed university would be free to all Vincentians with the appropriate university entrance qualifications.

The Green Party release contends that there will be substantial benefits for North Windward, North Central Windward and South Central Windward and beyond. Among the knock-off effects cited are the need for more rental accommodations and vehicles, shops and restaurants, and agricultural products to take care of the needs of the students.
