Last Friday night Carmen Homer of Bahamia, Richland Park perished in a fire that destroyed her three-bedroom home.{{more}}

Homer’s husband and two great grandchildren were more fortunate than the 74-year-old woman and escaped the deadly fire.

“She was a nice lady,” said neighbour Cammie Kydd.

Kydd said despite living close by her family and other neighbours were not aware of the fire, which took place at about midnight; hence they were unable to assist.

The police are investigating the matter.
