Barrels rolling in

The clearing of Christmas barrels at the new location at Campden Park is said to be going smoothly.

This year the Ministry of Trade has experimented with the processing of personal barrels and other packages at the former Cariwear factory shell on the Campden Park Industrial Estate. {{more}}The new facility, which opened on December 3rd, is staffed with customs officers and is open to the general public from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The service ends on January 15, 2005, when the Christmas rush has ended.

With the new facility, there has been a blossoming of activities in the area. As a result, the Campden Park Industrial Estate has taken on renewed life with the presence of pickup trucks ready to cash in on the need for transportation, and with vendors selling refreshments and food.

The public should note that this provision is available only for personal barrels and packages. All imports for commercial purposes will continue to be processed at the office in Kingstown.
