The United Nations has made November 20th Universal Children’s Day, to highlight the welfare of children. That date marks the day when the UN adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959 and the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.

In some countries around the world, organisations used the day to remind their governments of its legal obligations to treat all children equally, irrespective of race or the nationality of their parents.
