National activities calendar launched

Visitors and locals who want to keep updated about monthly happenings here now have a calendar that aids them in doing so.

Last Tuesday at the Cruise Ship and Ferry Berth, Minister of Tourism and Culture Rene Baptiste launched the 2005 National Calendar which is entitled “What’s going on – 2005”. The calendar comes in the form of a pamphlet and shows the major activities held every month. {{more}}

The launching of the first ever national calendar comes as part of National Tourism Month which is being celebrated under the theme “Proud to be Vincentian- Taking pride in the Jewels of the Caribbean”.

Among the happenings highlighted on the calendar are the Blues Fest and the Organisation of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Yacht Rally in January, the Bequia Easter Regatta in March, various shows of Carnival in June and July, Fisherman’s Month in May and Nine Mornings Celebration in December.

Minister Baptiste also unveiled a tourism billboard in Arnos Vale on Tuesday as part of National Tourism Month. The tourism minister said that a lot of focus is now being placed on sports and eco- tourism.
