The Covenant God
13.APR.07
Easter Message by: Rev Cordelia Gibson, Superintendent Wesleyan Holiness Churches St Vincent and the Grenadines District.
âCome now and let us join ourselves together …â ( Jer .50:5). One of the first words babies respond to is the word come. It is also one of the basic sight words in our active vocabulary. It has one sound; it is monosyllable and warrants one motion – to move towards. Therefore, this word âcomeâ is very operative. When a baby moves towards the sound of the word come, he exercises his little faith believing that your calling, with his response holds meaning.{{more}} Even so, as we celebrate the resurrected Christ, He is saying, âCome…â. Through his dying, God promised to forgive people of their sins. In the olden days the blood of animals was the covenant between God and his people, but today, after the resurrection, animal blood is no longer necessary. His covenant is sealed with the blood of Jesus Christ His Son. Animals had to be killed daily as sacrifices, this had to be repeated year after year but Jesusâ death and his resurrection instituted a new covenantâ between God and His people. Under this new covenant, Jesusâ blood unlike that of animals would save people from their sins. This need not be repeated, itâs good for Eternity. Itâs upon His resurrection that The Church has been built. Without his resurrection there will be no church today. This Easter season as you reflect on his birth, death and his resurrection, heed his call now (Jer 50: 5) and enter into this blessed covenant.
The Wesleyan Holiness Church St Vincent and the Grenadines extends to the government and people of the nation A BLESSED EASTER SEASON.
